Gas-powered jet injection compared with conventional methods of injection using lignocaine and technetium-99m.
Plasma concentrations of lignocaine and the clearance rates of technetium-99m were compared in 10 healthy volunteers after injection with a gas-powered jet system and a needle and syringe. The dosage was highly accurate with jet injection. Bioavailability was comparable for both methods.
متن کاملDesign of Selectively Controllable Micro Actuators Powered by Remote Resonant Magnetic Fields
Micro actuators for tiny robots could lead to revolutionary advances in many cutting-edge applications (e.g. minimally invasive medicine). Many prototypes were hence developed, which were powered either by micro organism, by onboard mechatronic systems or by remote magnetic fields. This paper presents two evolving designs, aiming at fabricating micro actuators which can be selectively controlle...
متن کاملVoice activated powered wheelchair with non-voice rejection algorithm
In this paper, we introduce a non-voice rejection method to perform Voice/Non-Voice (V/NV) classification using a fundamental frequency (F0) estimator called YIN. Although current speech recognition technology has achieved high performance, it is insufficient for some applications where high reliability is required, such as voice control of powered wheelchairs for disabled persons. The non-voic...
متن کاملGamma-Ray Bursts and Jet-Powered Supernovae
The last five years have seen growing challenges to the traditional paradigm of a core collapse supernova powered by the neutrino emission of a young proto-neutron star. Chief among these challenges are gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and the supernovae that seem to accompany them. Here we review some recent and not so recent models for GRBs and supernovae in which strong magnetic fields, rotation, or ...
متن کاملAn Ionized Jet Powered by Accretion
Analysis of high spatial resolution VLA images shows that the free-free emission from NGC7538 IRS 1 is dominated by a collimated ionized wind. We have re-analyzed high angular resolution VLA archive data from 6 cm to 7 mm, and measured separately the flux density from the compact bipolar core and the extended (1 . 5 3) lobes. We find that the flux density of the core is ∝ να, where ν is the fre...
